The model of Lisboa before the 1755 earthquake is one of the most iconic pieces in the Museu de Lisboa’s collection, and is now on public display again.
At 10 metres long and 4 metres wide, the model has more than 10,000 miniature buildings.
Because of its size and attention to detail, this model is a reference that provides us with knowledge of the city’s past.
Conceived by the historian Gustavo de Matos Sequeira, it was created by the Ticiano Violante studio and includes boats created by the artist Jaime Martins Barata.
