Andy Rector, an American curator based in Lisbon, proposes a film program of five sessions over five weeks, taking place every Wednesday at 6 pm, between 25 February and 1 April.

Reviving the spirit of the early film clubs—meeting places where people gathered not only to watch films but also to think and talk about cinema—this program spans a broad temporal arc, from 1914 to 2013, and presents films made in Los Angeles.

Experimental practice serves as the guiding thread, revealing how the Californian city became fertile ground for a form of cinema that extends far beyond the better-known production of Hollywood and its major studios.

On 1 April, the final session, Hey Art, Art Wake Up, Man, will also feature the participation of Sílvia das Fadas, filmmaker, researcher, and curator.
