On the Path of Oriental Fans

“Na Senda dos Leques Orientais” (On the Path of Oriental Fans) presents 180 pieces that trace the history, characteristics and uses of the Chinese fan in Europe from the 16th century onwards.

Since its introduction in the West, the fan has become an object of fascination, in which powerful social and cultural messages converge: luxury, exoticism, status and power.
