Philip Glass - Orphée

Orphée, by Philip Glass, is inspired by Jean Cocteau's film about the myth of Orpheus.

Orphée, by Philip Glass, is inspired by Jean Cocteau's film about the myth of Orpheus, the poet and musician who did everything to bring his loved one Eurydice back from the dead.

This chamber opera is presented at the Grande Auditório of the CCB with staging by the Brasilian Felipe Hirsch, with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and maestro Pedro Neves.

The work which resulted in the show was above all centred on Jean Cocteau, a very complete and diverse artist.

The adaptation for the opera considered the mirror as being a character, a symbol of the relationship with death and aging.
