Like many cities around the world, Lisboa also celebrates the Irish National holiday. This annual celebration remembers the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick (São Patrício) and, as well, the Irish culture.
The event has become an increasingly popular with locals and tourists alike. It brings together Irish diaspora but also it as an occasion to celebrate the friendly relationship that exists between the two countries.
So, to join the party just bring the right dress code, wearing green clothes, and the good mood to dance to Irish music.
To mark this date, Avenida da Liberdade will be invaded by bagpipers playing the best-known Irish tunes in a parade starting at 15.30. A show open to the public will end in Rossio Square, where a themed market will be set up and there will be live performances.
The celebrations will spread through the city centre to Cais do Sodré, where the festivities will be livened up by the various pubs maintaining the Irish tradition
