Lisboa reopens doors to two tourist facilities that celebrate the city's history. This month, it is already possible to go up to Arco da Rua Augusta and visit the Lisboa Story Center.

With Lisboa downtown literally at its feet, the Arco da Rua Augusta, also known as Arco Triunfal, reaches a height of 34 meters and visitors can climb to the top and enjoy the panoramic view over the city and the river. It was built as a symbol of strength, after the 1755 earthquake, which greatly affected the capital. Up there, in addition to enjoying the view, it is possible to observe the sculptures of Célestin Anatole Calmels that represent Glory, crowning Genius and Valor and other iconic figures of Portuguese history, such as Vasco da Gama, Nuno Álvares Pereira, Viriato and Marquês de Pombal, sculpted by Victor Bastos.

Also in Terreiro do Paço, the Lisboa Story Center takes visitors, interactively and for 60 minutes, through the history of the Portuguese capital. Using scenography, multimedia and sensory experiences, stories are told, myths and realities of the ancient city are explored. The exhibition has five main areas, arranged chronologically and which focus on different episodes of the History of Lisboa. Themes such as the mythological beginnings and the walls of the capital; the cosmopolitan city, politics and religion; the 1755 earthquake; the reconstruction of Lisboa after the tragedy; and the square that is now Terreiro do Paço, with all the history it gave stage to, are some of the stories that you will be able to know in detail.

Therefore, there are several good reasons to visit Terreiro do Paço and discover these tourist facilities.
