Inspired by the patriotism of the poet Qu Yuan, The Imperial Bells of China combines song, music and dance to recreate the splendour of Chu culture.
Ancient instruments such as bells and drums are used to portray scenes from the life and art of the ancient Chinese Chu state.
The theatrical performance reflects customs, sacrifices, agriculture, battles and palace banquets, with the eight tones of the instruments recreating the music and artistic style of the Jingchu and Chu people, who are known for their fast social, political and economic development.
