The Phantom of the Opera - Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa

Concert by Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa - an orchestral suite dedicated to the movements of the different planets.

From €6

Details

Man first set foot on the surface of the moon 50 years ago.

But even before this astonishing event, the universe of stars, planets, galaxies and of intangible proportions had already piqued the interest of and inspired scientists and artists.

The English composer Gustav Holst was fascinated by these things and in 1912, inspired by Alan Leo’s book “The Art of Synthesis”, dedicated each of the movements of an orchestral suite to a different planet.

The Lisboa Metropolitan Orchestra has recovered this work, contrasting it with Gustav Mahler’s Adagio symphony, which the composer left unfinished at the time of his death in 1911.

17th November at 7pm, Centro Cultural de Belém (tram: 15 | bus: 728, 729).

Tickets: from 6 euros.
