Mouriscas Tidal Mill

This fascinating tidal mill lies inside the Sado estuary nature reserve.

The Mourisca Tidal Mill, which possibly dates as far back as the 17th Century, is located in the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, in an area of salt pans and salt marshes.

This is one of four such mills known to exist in the Sado estuary. Its eight grindstones were milling grain until just a few decades ago.

The mill was restored by INCF and is currently managed by Setúbal City Council, which is responsible for promoting the mill and looking after the surrounding area.
