This double bill from the Portuguese Centro Coreográfico Nacional and the Ballet de Lorraine, France, brings to the stage A Folia, by the Portuguese choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira.
The folia (revelry), a musical pillar of the Renaissance, has its origin in popular celebrations.
Marco da Silva Ferreira’s work draws inspiration from this 15th century Portuguese phenomenon to explore the concepts of ecstasy, euphoria and collective rebellion.
The choreographer creates an artistic encounter between the Portuguese festival of times gone by and contemporary dances.
