Details

A world-renowned and deeply human opera, capable of moving audiences live on stage, where everything takes on a true dimension, both for those discovering opera for the first time and those returning to it.

Few operas manage to combine spectacle, emotion and musical beauty like Aida, a timeless masterpiece by Giuseppe Verdi.

In the heart of ancient Egypt, amid temples, rituals and wars, an impossible love is born. Aida, an Ethiopian princess reduced to slavery, loves Radamés, the Egyptian hero destined for glory. Between them stands Amneris, daughter of the Pharaoh, and a world where duty, power and loyalty speak louder than feelings.

Verdi constructs a drama of contrasts: monumental scenes with grandiose choruses and triumphal marches coexist with moments of extreme intimacy, where the music reveals human frailty with moving depth. Each aria, each duet, each silence leads the audience to impossible choices and an outcome of enormous emotional intensity. With a libretto by A. Ghislanzoni, based on the work of C. du Locle and A. Mariette, premiered at the Cairo Opera House on 24 December 1871, Aida is a story about love and sacrifice that remains current, urgent and deeply human.

In May 2026, this major production will arrive in Portugal for a series of performances beginning in Estoril, ending in Lisbon, and passing through Braga and Águeda. A rare opportunity to experience, live, one of the most powerful creations in the history of classical music.
