Graça Morais – An Anthology

-

From 15 March to 16 August 2026, the Palácio Anjos in Algés will host the exhibition ‘Graça Morais – An Anthology’, bringing together over 170 drawings and paintings.

Details

The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the artist’s career, exploring the central themes of her work from the 1970s to the present day: her relationship with the land and its fruits, women, hunting, the memory of place as a cultural space and, in more recent years, her reflection on the metamorphoses of the human being, as both victim and perpetrator, carer and aggressor.

Including recent works, the exhibition also reveals the artist’s significant foray into the field of photography, used as a record and archive, but also as a starting point for the development of drawing and painting.

Also noteworthy is the large-scale panel paying tribute to the political prisoners of Caxias prison, which will also form an integral part of the exhibition, as an artistic and ethical gesture evoking resistance and the struggle for freedom.
