‘O Castelo Surrealista de Mário Cesariny’ is an exhibition that celebrates the centenary of the most important figure in Portuguese surrealism.
It is inspired by the book that Cesariny dedicated to the life and work of Vieira da Silva and Árpád Szenes and which title gets its inspiration from the first surrealist manifest by André Breton.
The exhibition tried to pay tribute to his life and his poetic and plastic work in the context of the disparate times and works that Cesariny claimed as a source of inspiration, the artists he knew, but also the portraits made of him, the cultures he admired, the lovers he knew and the objects he surrounded himself with.
