This triple-nave Gothic-style church contains the tomb of Jorge, the last Master of the Order of Santiago. 18th Century “carpet” tiles with the insignia of the order line the walls of the chancel, which also has a Manueline ribbed dome. After having been classified as a national monument, the church is now used as a top-drawer exhibition space. No religious services take place in the church.
