The Pavilion of Knowledge - Ciência Viva is an interactive science and technology museum that has been open to the public since July 25th 1999. It is an integral part of the Ciência Viva Centres Network and serves as both the driving force and resource centre for this network.
The main objective is to stimulate scientific knowledge and promote scientific and technological culture among all citizens. The exhibitions and activities proposed allow visitors to explore many wide-ranging themes with interactive Exhibits, relaxing and having fun at the same time.
Besides the major theme exhibitions, the Pavilion of Knowledge - Ciência Viva promotes various scientific and educational initiatives.

The Pavilhão de Portugal is one of the major milestones in contemporary Portuguese architecture and unique in Lisbon. Only here – and only in person – is it possible to appreciate the grandeur of Álvaro Siza Vieira’s epic building. Created to represent the country in the 1998 World Expo that regenerated the Parque das Nações area, the Pavilhão de Portugal is designed to represent a look like a sheet of paper resting on two bricks. The huge concrete roof, weighing 1, 400 tonnes, is an award-winning masterpiece of engineering. If you visit, you’ll be impressed by the pure beauty and strength this building conveys when seen from afar – and the way it envelops you as you approach.
