Italian Film Festival'24

Festa do Cinema Italiano / Italian Film Festival is the leading festival in Portugal for those who are passionate about the italian films and culture.

‘We’ll always have tomorrow’, the biggest box office hit in Italy in 2023, marks the start of the 17th edition of the festival dedicated to Italian culture in Lisboa.

The Italian Film Festival returns to Cinema São Jorge, Cinemateca Portuguesa, UCI El Corte Inglés and, this year, also extends to Cine-Teatro Turin.

In addition to several national premieres, such as ‘Rapito’, by Marco Bellocchio, ‘Comandante’, by Eduardo de Angelis, or ‘Romantiche’, by Pilar Fogliati, there is a programme dedicated to ‘The other 25th April’, which looks at works alluding to the Liberation Day in Italy, the fall of Mussolini and the end of the Nazi occupation.

In this edition, which joins the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of 25th April Revolution in Portugal, it is also possible to watch a special programme: ‘Post Censorship’, with films that marked the Portuguese imagination once they were allowed to be shown after the national revolution.
