Miradouro de Penha de França

Visit one of the least known viewing points in Lisbon. Enjoy the tranquillity and seek inspiration in the view, while taking photos of the city.

The Miradouro da Penha de França is one of the least well-known in Lisbon. Which means there is more space to enjoy the view and to put your feet up before continuing your wanderings around the city. It is next to the church of Nossa Senhora da Penha de França, whose construction began in 1597. It was completely demolished by the earthquake of 1755, even though legend has it that the image of Our Lady survived untouched. The view shows another side of Lisbon, with particular note for the Alto de São João area and the neighbourhoods of Olivais, Chelas and Marvila. You’ll get to know the lesser-known side of Lisbon.
