Elevador Boca do Vento - Almada

Point of Interest

Built in 2000, this elevator connects the historic part of Almada, also known as “Almada Velha”, to the old Olho de Boi shipyards, which have recently been transformed into a leisure area called Jardim do Rio, offering a variety of restaurants and terraces. An excellent view over the Tagus Estuary and the city of Lisbon can be enjoyed from the panoramic elevator.

Cristo Rei

Monument

Inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s majestic Christ The Redeemer, this monument was built as a gesture of appreciation for the gift of peace granted to Portugal during the 20th century. Inaugurated on the 17th of May 1959, it offers one of the most beautiful views of Lisbon.

Between Almada's cliffs and the River Tagus lies Jardim do Rio, a spacious and refreshing area, perfect for a pleasant stroll along the Ginjal pier or simply relaxing on the grass right on the Tagus.

A former fishermen’s quarter located on Vila Franca de Xira’s waterfront, where palafite piers, recently built by local fishermen to dock their boats, emulate structures from the past.
